Defne’s marriage was the event of the year.  She and Koray met and got married within 4 months.  Her life didnot change much: she, still, lives in her old apartment overlooking the Bosphorus, and works hard till 2 a.m.  But the poor husband works at HalkBank as auditor and after his work goes to Defne’s Pub in Maslak, on the European side, to continue working there.  Defne has now started a business venture with a new group as junior-partner & assistant general manager and opened another North Shield Pub at Fenerbahce on the Anatolian side.  She and her husband meet at home for sleeping.

Nazlan is in Ankara, for Christmas holiday and New Year.  She got used to living in grey Brussels, but still feels lonely.  We have not visited her yet.  She travels a lot.  This is rather fortunate because IRF’s Silk Road project involves Turkiye, and she often comes to

Istanbul and Ankara.

Kerim and Betul bought a new house, which they love, but is 17 km. away from our home.

Tekin and Gulay are fine.  Tekin is still teaching at Bilkent University.  Recently, he has  enjoyed hosting the Tourism Educators’ EuroCHRIE Conference 2004, in Ankara & Cappadocia
